E.M.G Gopala Krishna Kone Yadava Women’s College was established in 1974, with the vision of building a strong and healthy society by providing Value added Education to socially and economically backward women. Motto: "Anbum Arivum Panbum Yadavam''. The Institution has been Administered under the Governance of E.M.GopalaKrishna Kone Yadava Mahalir Kalloori (Women’s College) Association, Madurai, and is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. Department of Commerce Established UG: B.Com (Regular) Programme in the year of 1981 – 1982, B.Com(S.F)- 2000-2001, B.Com(Computer Application)(SF)- 2007-2008, PG: M.Com with Computer Application- 2011-2012, M.Phil Commerce- 2015-2016.
The Department introduced two new courses B.Com(Professional Accounting) and M.Com(General) for this Academic year 2021-2022. In the year 2009, the Department of Commerce offered a UGC Sponsored course in Computerized Accounting using Tally.
