DEPARTMENT PROFILE
The Department of Business Administration was started in 1997. The sanctioned strength of our department is 60. It has organized a number of seminars, guest lectures, intra-collegiate competition “pathfinders'' and an association meeting named “Dazzlers'' at our campus. It encourages and motivates our students. It is an opportunity to expose their talents. The department is manned by five well qualified and experienced faculty members. Among them, two of two staff members Dr.T.Sathiya Sheila has cleared both NET and SET during the year 2012 and Dr.V. Selvasubashini has cleared SET during the year 2016. Dr.T.Sathiya Sheila is awarded Ph.D titled “Consumer Behaviour towards Two-wheelers- An Empirical Study in Madurai City '' the year 2014. Dr.V.Selva Subashini is awarded Ph.D titled “titled “A study on Emotional Intelligence and Work-Life Balance of Women Employees in Software and Information Technology Companies in TamilNadu '' during the year 2017. Our department library is well equipped with a rare collection of text and reference books. Besides the central library (which has about 2971 text and reference books) it has 350 books and is subscribed to leading magazines and journals. Students gain practical knowledge through industrial training for 21 days in various companies/ factories and submit their reports to the department. Open book assignments are given to understand the dynamic and ever-changing field of business.
Apart from regular classes, Management games, case analysis, Roleplay and debate are conducted in the classroom. Changes have been made in the curriculum every three years with the contribution of the faculty members. The innovative, career, research and life-oriented papers such as Disaster Management, Customer Relationship Management, Soft skills, interview techniques, Accounting packages (Tally) Research Methodology and Stress Management are included in the syllabus. Every year we are conducting Extension activities and Consultancy Programmes for Rural students and self-help groups. Our faculty is acted as a subject expert in the Board of Studies in various colleges and universities such as Fatima College, Yadava College, V.H.N.S.N College, Virudhunagar and Madurai Kamaraj University and also served as Subject External Peer Team member in Yadava College, Madurai. Our faculty members have given Guest lectures to other college students. One of our faculty members was a member of the selection committee for the recruitment of an Assistant Professor at Madurai Kamaraj University. All the staff members have published their articles in 9 International journals, 2 National Journals and 2 State level online publications. Dr.T.Sathiya Sheila has submitted UGC sponsored Minor Research Project in the year 2018. Students are placed in various Companies, Banks and Hospitals. Our department offers Certificate Course in Hospital Management for II years students. Every year we take our students for hospital visits and submit their reports to the department. Our faculty members conduct the classes through ICT enabled teaching methods. Students avail e-content materials for their references. Students have attended seminars and Inter-Collegiate Competition in and out of our campus. Students also presented their papers and participated in various competitions and also won prizes.
